Hi everyone!
This is a new blog I’ve created as part of my summer school assignment at the London School of Journalism, and I’ve decided to stick to WordPress rather than continue on Blogger.
You can still check out my previous blog here, but I will no longer post there.
Here are some of the reasons why I decided to stick to this platform.
WordPress vs. Blogger
You’re in control
Blogger is owned by Google, thus making them ultimately in charge of your blog. Although I hadn’t had any problems using Blogger in the past, I feel that in the long run, WordPress will be better as it offers a self-hosting service which makes you completely in charge of the content of your blog.
More choice
With Blogger you don’t have a lot of choice when it comes to choosing a template for your blog. I found that WordPress has a lot more choice. It also has more options on its dashboard, and it’s easy to manage and customise, whereas on Blogger I found it a lot more complicated to change some things.
SEO advantages
If you wanted to move your Blogger blog to another platform, there would be a risk of losing your SEO rankings, whereas WordPress makes the change a simple task with no risk to your blog’s SEO whatsoever.
This blog will still continue on the theme of my previous one, but will have a more journalistic spin on things.
Are there any other advantages to WordPress that I haven’t mentioned? Or any disadvantages too? I’d love to hear your thoughts.
